I see guides, tips, and product recommendations all the time, but they always seem to end with, “It can be yours for only X hundred dollars!” Excuse me? Yeah, I don’t have hundreds lying around. In this economy, I’m lucky to have tens.

But what I do have is the drive to push limits and stretch a budget. My philosophy? If I spend $20 on something, I want to see just how far I can push it. I want to get as much performance and functionality out of my hardware as well as get the best bang for my buck.
